Benefits of Porcelain Tiles

Here at Tile Choice we sell both non-porcelain ceramic tiles and porcelain tiles. The difference between these comes from the process used to make them. Porcelain tiles are generally made up of porcelain clays and they are made using a dry press method. This basically means that they are bisque-fired to begin with at lower temperatures than standard ceramic tiles. They are then taken out of the kiln and glazed before being re fired for up to two or three days at extremely high temperatures. This results in a product which is stonger than standard ceramic tiles because they are both dense and fine grained. It is this durability which makes porcelain tiles such a good long term choice for tiles. Due to the materials used to make them, they have an extreemley low water absorption rate making them great choices for areas where they will be exposed to water such as kitchens, bathrooms, splashbacks etc. These tiles can also be used outdoors because they are frost proof. One of our really popular porcelain floor tiles is the Planet Moon tile which can be used indoors or outside, and makes a stunning floor covering for patio areas. However porcelain tiles are not just popular for the floor, we stock a wide range of Porcelain wall tiles both for use as Kitchen wall tiles & bathroom wall tiles.

We have seen porcelain tiles rapidly increase in popularity over recent years, this is possibly due to advances in technology meaning tiles of this quality can be made for lower prices, making them more affordable and available in the market. Their popularity is fast beginning to overtake that of traditional ceramic tiles, as people value their durability and knowing they will resist damage better than some tiles. As porcelain tiles have increased in popularity so has the range we stock, we now have a huge range of porcelain tiles in many different colours and styles so there is something to suit everyone.
