Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis are considered invisible illnesses and this awareness week they are #MakingTheInvisibleVisible

Aleesha aka The Gutless Warrior has been on a long journey with her IBD after being first diagnosed in December 2013, undergoing an ileostomy on New Year’s Eve 2014 and having her rectum removed in June 2016.

She has worked hard to raise as much money as possible for the charity as well as trying to raise awareness for this invisible disease. Throughout her fundraising activities she has met some amazing people in a similar situation to herself and by using the Gutless Warrior platform on social media.

Aleesha is also a mentor at the local hospital working with the colorectal nurses and patients who are considering having a ostomy bag or struggling to adjust to life with it. People can make hurtful comments as they don’t fully understand what IBD is and Aleesha is working hard to break the stigmas around the illness.

Visit our Bilston store between 2-3rd December to find out more about this invisible illness and donate.
