On Saturday 13th May at Walsall Football Clubs Banks’s Stadium, there will be a celebrity football match in aid of two incredible and highly supportive charities. These two charities are Smile for Joel and Compton Hospice.

Compton Hospice is a Wolverhampton based charity that has been supporting patients facing a life-limiting illness and their families for over 30 years – next year, they will be celebrating their 35th Anniversary. Their purpose is to make a difference to people’s lives when their illness is no longer curable. They do this by treating people, not conditions, whether their needs are physical, psychological, social or spiritual.

Smile for Joel was founded by Suzy Richards, who lost her son, brother and father in the terrorist attack in Tunisia in June 2015. On 26 June 2015 Suzy’s family went on holiday but her son Joel, dad Pat and Brother Ade were tragically killed along with 27 other British people during a terrorist attack. Her youngest son Owen was the sole survivor. Smile for Joel in its own right is now a fundraising charity that supports bereaved family members who are victims of murder, manslaughter and terrorism.

The charity match will see a Smile for Joel team, the Smiling Saddlers, come against the Compton Hospice team, the Compton Wolves. All proceeds raised from the event, which is being organised by Sellebrity Soccer and Sponsored by Tile Choice, will be equally split between the two above charities.

Celebrities including, Walsall boxer Martin Gethin, EastEnders actor Jake Wood and former Birmingham Goalkeeper Maik Taylor have already been confirmed. Others include call centre boss Nev Wilshire, Soccer AM Franky Fryer and X Factor singer Nicholas McDonald.

Tickets, which are on sale now are just £10 for adults and £5 for children, with VIP tickets priced at £35. You can purchase your tickets now by calling the Banks’s Stadium Ticket Office on 01922 651416 or by visiting www.eticketing.co.uk/walsallfc/.
